Manual meter reading is still the predominant form of meter reading for utility companies ranging from grid, to industrial and household meters. However, with M2M technology they are able to efficiently collect, transmit and process accurate real-time usage data remotely via communication links attached to, or embedded within the meters.
|
Using M2mpower
M2mpower allows the application to gather telemetry information and download to a collection site at regular intervals. This is particularly useful in applications such as AMR (utility meters), parking meters, industrial metering, elevator and vending connectivity. In vending, over the air programming capability allows the application to be rapidly updated with new prices, special offers etc. When combined with an alarm application it becomes even more attractive. The remote control capabilities of the M2mpower solution allows for verification and a level of diagnosis of the problem.
Key Benefits
-
Accelerate time to market by reducing hardware design and software development
-
Cut production costs by minimising the need for extra components
-
Easy and rapid update of application using over the air (OTA) programming
-
Use of the remote control facility to interrogate reported problems before dispatching a maintenance engineer
-
Optimised for M2M market
